Nikolaev Region-Study Museum was founded on the 15th of December, 1913. The museum of local lore today is a significant museum association which structure, it includes the museum of shipbuilding and fleet, the Museum of "Partisan Movement in Nikolaev Region", Ochakov military museum named after A.V.Suvorov and others.
The museum and its branches annually visit more than 150 thousand people. The museum collection has more than 160 thousand articles, among which unique collections of ancient books, archeology, numismatics, natural study and ethnography are.
On the basis of a museum the traditional scientific conference "the History. Ethnography. Culture. New researches" is conducted. |

The museum of shipbuilding and fleet in Nikolaev was created as a branch of Nikolaev Region-Study Museum on in 1978.
The museum is located in the ancient house which is the historical monument. Today the museum is a unique museum of shipbuilding in the country.
The exposition on 12 halls tells to its visitors about stages of development of shipbuilding in Northern Black Sea Coast, since old times, process of creation of the Black Sea fleet, development of the ship-building enterprises.
Annually the museum is attended by more than 50 thousands visitors. There are more than 8 thousands displays in the museum.
The significant part of an exposition is devoted to the foundation of Nikolaev as a shipyard. One of the most interesting museum pieces is the diorama "Shipbuilding on the Nikolaev shipyard in 1st quarter XIX of a century" its author and the executor is the winner of the State premium of T.Shevchenko artist V.Semernyov.
The significant part of expositions is devoted to development of the ship-building enterprises of city of end XIX - the beginnings of XX century. These are the materials displaying the foundation of ship-building factory "Naval' ".
Near the museum memorable busts of the glorified admirals - naval commanders are. On the open area the Admiralty anchors and ship guns of different times are exhibited. |

Museum of "Partisan Movement in Nikolaev Region" was opened on April, 29, 1975 in city centre of Nikolaev.
It is placed in an ancient private residence of the end of 19th century it was belonged to family Shardt of Germans - colonists known in Nikolaev.
The museum studies the history of the Second World War, investigates events of a military history of the Nikolaev region, illegal political reprisals in 30-50 years of 20th century.
The museum has collections of Soviet and German weapon, posters of Great Patriotic War, a collection of the Soviet and German newsreel.
A number of museum exhibition projects devoted to a political history of the country at 30-50ties of XX centuries with wide exhibiting original documents on investigatory affairs of repression persons, which long years were kept in confidential archival fund.
Alongside with demonstration of historical events the museum makes exhibitions of peace-making humanistic programs about saving of culture of the world, a spiritual heritage.
For different categories of visitors in a museum survey and thematic excursions are conducted. |

Fine - Arts Museum named after V.V.Vereschagin is located in Nikolaev. It was open in 1914 to the date of death of artist Vasily Vereshchagin. The first works of a museum were 20 pictures of Vasily Vereshchagin's; they were presented in 1914 by Russian museum of Petersburg.
Vereschagin's son has brought various things of the father: palettes, the Chinese vases, furniture and pictures. Interior and some things have been sent by the widow of the artist. The Academy of arts of Petersburg has helped with opening too.
Today the hall of the painter is open, well-known and little-known works of art are restored with the help of maecenases. In 1924 the museum has got a collection of painter V.Sudkovskogo. Before Great Patriotic War in a museum 850 works of painting, sculptures, decorative art have been collected. Unfortunately after the War in 1944 only small part of the collection has been found by city dwellers. Vasily Vereshchagina's works were rescued. The museum restarted the work in 1945.
Today its collection includes 3 thousands pictorial works, sculptures, and graphics. The collection of iconography is collected. Visitors can learn works of Vasily Tropinin, Alexey Venetsianov, Charles Bryullov, Valentine Serova and others.
Exhibitions of various works of art are hold in museum. Pride of a museum are restored works of world popularity "Pushkin on seacoast" of Ivan Aivazovskiy, "In turkish mortuary" of Vasily Vereshchagin and many others. | |
